Please remember that in our upcoming class we will be offering our Seva to The Trenton Area Soup Kitchen. We ask that each child bring in one pair of men's white tube socks.  Or you can offer a money contribution to go towards buying a pair of socks. Either gift is very welcomed. We will be wrapping each pair of socks with a gift ribbon during this week's class, so that the recipients will feel the love that these gifts represent. Many thanks in advance for your support and participation! (Click here to learn more about TASK)

Hari OM Everyone !!

It was great to see our little friends this morning. Here is a jist of what we did in class today

Opening Prayers

Shlokas

Gita Chanting

Activities

• Concentration Time : Shell game
• Story Time :  Krishna and Sudama

Krishna and sudama  were in school together and they were very good friends . Then as time passed Krishna became king of Dwaraka and Sudama was a poor Brahmin without enough to eat.  One day on his wife's insistence Sudama went to meet Krishna to ask for help with beaten rice(poha) as a gift. Despite his appearance Krishna welcomed him and they had good time talking together and Krishna loved the humble rice snack his friend brought him and ate it with great pleasure. It was soon time to part and Sudama in all his exciement did not ask his friend for help. But when he reached home to his surprise his home was now changed to a palace and his wife and kids were wearing beautiful clothes. Sudama immediately knew this was a unasked gift from Krishna.  From that day onwards Sudama lived happily

Moral : A true friend helps without even being asked.

Activity Time : Making a picture of a friend
Likhita Japa : Tracing Ram in sanskrit (राम)

Closing prayers and Pledge

Section 1

We started a cold Sunday morning warming up with slokas and bhajans. We did some yoga stretches and We revised our Gita stanza one and started the first two lines of stanza 2.
Many children are very thorough with stanza one.
Our circle time was exciting as we learnt about F for friendship. We listened to story of Krishna and sudama. We had a wonderful time doing activity time for friendship. We learnt to love respect and care for friends and how god was our best friend at all times.
The children spoke about their friends and how they valued them.
Our action bhajans great god ganapathy and khathey bhi ram Kaho is always so much fun.
It was already time to wind up with ending prayers and pledge.
We look forward to next Sunday for another beautiful balvihar class.

Section 2

We started the day with our 3 aum's followed by our shlokas. We followed up this with Gita chanting. Since all the kids are chanting verse1 quiet well. We completed verse 2 with out kids. We
would like all kids to continue good work at home practicing gita chanting.
We then proceeded to shell game and it was really tough listening skills as all kids were quiet with their eyes closing counting shells for 3 minutes. This was definitely a great achievement.  Then we continued with our alphabet safari. Today's letter was F. All friends had great guesses from fire, fun to friends and friendship. We followed this with drawing a picture of a friend in a piece of paper as part of our activity. Then we crumpled the drawing and threw it in a bag. Some children found it hard to crumple but when they retrieved their paper from the bag and try to straighten it they found it impossible to get all the creases out. This was a easy way to make them realize each time we use mean words we are creasing our friendship and it is impossible to take all the creases away if we are not kind in our words with our friends.
This was followed by our Likhita japa to make children's mind quiet. This was followed by closing prayers and pledge.
