Hari Om!

Before we share a quick recap of today’s class activities, we’d like to offer our deepest thanks to all our parents. You guys totally helped us move swiftly through all the admin work and get right down to some fun Kindergarten business. Usually, our first days are a bit more chaotic than normal, but today seemed to fly by seamlessly — so thank you!!!_/\_

As we said in our brief intro meeting, this blog will be the main communication tool between you and your child’s teachers throughout the year, so please make it a regular practice to pop in and see what your child has been doing in class. We've also been known to share fun videos and websites for the kids as we stumble across them.

Also, you should be on the look-out for an email from us within the next few days. We plan on sending you all the pertinent information for your child’s registered class, (i.e., Teachers’ names, emails and phone numbers… and your child’s classroom assignment.)

Just to re-emphasize: Please be assured that no matter what class your child is registered for, he/she will be learning the exact same curriculum (at the same speed) as the rest of the classes. The only difference your child will experience will be the sevikas who are teaching that day.  Nothing more… nothing less.

So, now that we got all of that out of the way… here’s a recap of what we accomplished today. Oh, and just for the record: every single sevika was thoroughly impressed with how mature your children are, and what wonderful listeners they are! For a second there, we thought we (the teachers) made a mistake… and were sitting in the First Grade class.

Lots of Hugs and “High Fives!” to our young friends…
and please tell them that we can’t wait to see everyone at our next class: October 5th!

Gita Chanting: Chapter 15, Shloka 1

Concentration/Shell Game

Your children are definitely an impressive challenge for the aunties this year! We thought that this activity was going to be hard for everyone, but NOOOOOooooo… these kids totally got it!!! They sat nicely for one solid minute… and almost everyone got the correct number of shells that were dropped in the bowl —15. Looks like the aunties are going to have to practice some more if we want to stump the kids!

Yoga Stretches

Madhu Aunty lead us through some child friendly and invigorating yoga stretches. And while we were all laughing and trying to balance ourselves doing the Tree Pose, it instantly became became clear that the yoga segment will become our favorite class activity … no question about it.

StoryTime: Lord Ganesha Circles The Universe

Craft: Made a small Lord Ganesha out of modeling clay.

Ending Prayer: Om Poornamadah

Aarti and Chinmaya Pledge was performed in the auditorium.
