Hari Om!

Well,  today was our first "official" Balavihar Day of this school year... and we could not have expected things to run as smoothly as they did! Many MANY thanks to all the parents for escorting your children to their proper classrooms. We realize that it felt a bit more chaotic than usual... but your kind patience really helped us move things along peacefully and efficiently. Thank you!!! _/\_

As promised, we will try our best to post the class review by 6:00 p.m. each Sunday. However, if for some reason we are a few minutes late one day... please forgive us and check back later that evening. We really are sticklers about being on time... so if we're late, there's probably a good reason.

In the meantime, we hope you are enjoying the gorgeous weather and nature paintings that God has blessed us with. And please give your child a great big hug for us! The aunties had such a fun time today and we can't wait to see everyone again next Sunday!!

Shlokas

Gita Chanting: Chapter 15, Shloka 1

Concentration/Shell Game
The children sat quietly for one minute and then focused on counting the shells as they were dropped into the bowl for another minute. That makes 2 solid minutes that they were quiet and focused — all with their eyes closed! Please know that we are being very honest when we say that they are incredibly advanced for this activity so early in the year. There is no doubt that we will be moving onto 3 minutes of focused silence in the very near future.

Yoga Stretches/Exercise
The aunties always like to get up and do some fun exercise activities... so we spent a few minutes doing some nice butterfly yoga stretches, followed with some fun jumping and running in place. There is nothing like burning off some energy before story time!

StoryTime
"Eat a Mango Where No One Can See You." We think this is such an excellent story to illustrate the concept, "God is Everywhere." After the story, we asked the children the following questions during our circle time discussion:

• Can we see God?
• Can we talk to God?
• Can God talk to us?

We seized this opportunity to share with the children the importance of Our Guru — Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayanada... and that if we study hard and follow his teachings, we will be able to see and talk to God. It is our Guru who helps us learn how to see God.

Likhita Japa
The children practiced writing "Raama" in Sanskrit 21 times. (Please feel free to download the template below. We have found that children this age absolutely love likhita japa! If they can practice a few minutes every day, they will experience amazing results.)
