Section 1

The weather was seemingly better than the previous day and we had some visitors in class today. Students from NYU are doing a documentary about Balavihar and attended few minutes of our class in the morning.
We started with 3 oms followed by slokas. we warmed ourselves with yoga stretches and revised Gita chanting upto stanza 3. once again, we encourage parents to practice at home as kids are learning them fast and practice would make them more confident.

we revised our alphabet safari and brainstormed letter 'M' for Mother. It was a wonderful experience as children spoke about their mothers and expressed their love for them They shared stories about how mommies helped them in everything. we discussed how to help mommies and obey them. Maatre devo Bhava - meant mother is god. Mother Nature, Mother Shruthi, Mother Cow were all points of discussion.

We listened eagerly to story of young Rudra and his mommy which every child in the class related to. Hearing the efforts of the mommy in the family, the children vowed to help their mommies, be thankful and always show love and affection.

Letter N for nobility blended with the discussion. We read about Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi and learnt about the great noble people who were an inspiration to mankind. The noble cow story made us all emotional and children sighed a relief when the lion let go the cow.

we then did our bhajans and winded up with prayers. the aarti and pledge took place in the auditorium.

It was another exciting Sunday morning and look forward to the next one.

Section 2

We started with 3 aum's and then continued with our opening prayers. After the prayers we moved to gita chanting. Children seem to be practising at home the gita very well. Most of them could chant verse 1, 2  and 3rd verse of the gita. So we did not have to repeat the shloka 3 one more class we moved on to the 4th verse. Thank you moms and dads for the amazing job you are doing with the kids.

As per our schedule we proceeded to shell game. The kids enjoyed and had fun counting shells and stayed quiet for 2 full minutes. With this amazing concentration we proceeded towards alphabet safari. We first revised all the letters from A to J. Then we did the letter for the day L for love and K for kindness. WE heard the story of how Mahatma Gandhi's story of how he was kind and loving even to a thief and how the thief regretted what he did and vowed that he would never do it again.

Then we did our heart pop up cards and children decorated it with lot of details. This was followed by likhita japa. Finally we did our closing prayers. Then we proceeded to the auditorium for arati and pledge. Thanks everyone for such a wonderful class. See you again next Sunday...until then stay warm..
