We encouraged each kid to come up and recite individually. They got a sticker for each Shloka they could recite and this motivated them quite a bit to get the most number and they all made a very good effort to chant as many verses as possible. Parents, please bring back the printed sheets to the class this week. We hope all the kids have been registered for the Geeta Chanting competition on April 23rd. If not, please do so today. There are practice classes at the Ashram on Fridays at 7.30pm. Please attend with the children if possible.
Story Time and Letter(s) of the day: 'V'
Moving on in our Alphabet Safari, we arrive at the letter 'V', that stands for Victory.
We tied up the letter of the day to the letter 'A' for aspiration. When you fulfill your aspiration that means you are victorious. What value can always ensure Victory? We told the story of Sage Viswamitra challenging Sage Vasista that nobody can forever and under all circumstances be truthful. Sage Vasishta replies that there is just such a person on earth, Satya Harishchandra and he is willing to stake anything that nobody can make Harishchandra ever tell a lie. Sage Viswamitra tries his best to make Harischandra utter a lie but in the end he accepts defeat. We taught them the slogan 'Satyameva Jayate' - Truth always wins.
We also told them a Mullah Naseeruddin story to illustrate that even if it gets you in trouble in the short term truth always wins in the end.
Activity:
They continued doing their Likhita Japa beautifully. They started on a new picture when they were done with the earlier one. All of them can write Ram very well in the Devanagari script. Please ask them to show you.
