Announcements
On Oct 23, is the CORD walkathon. We will be having the class in Mercer County Park that day followed by the walkathon. Each class is a separate team and the goal for our team is $1000/-. Please help us achieve that by registering yourself and your children to walk at cord.dojiggy.com. It will be a good opportunity to teach our children the values Seva and Charity. Let's show the children what Unity can achieve - how small droplets can become a big ocean.
There is a smaller trail for the little children. After the walk, we will have fun doing art projects while waiting for the adults to return and have lunch later. Remember, the class that raises the most gets to have an icecream and pizza party! So please, hurry up and register at cord.dojiggy.com and join the KG team.

ekadantam mahakayam
lambodaragajananam,
vighnanasakaram devam
herambam pranamamyaham.
This is a little difficult to recite and kids will get it when they practice a little more. We proceeded with our Geetha Chanting, Chapter 12. Encourage them to memorize the first shloka.
In the last class the kids had learnt A is for ASPIRATION. The letter of today's class was B stands for BROTHERHOOD. We gave some examples about how we should respect each other and help each other and did an activity sheet. Every kid was given one crayon each. To complete the picture the kids had to share the single crayon they had with the other kid.The kids were given the sheet to take home.
We also talked about an important event; the CORD walkathon, which is on the 23rd October at Mercer County Park. Couple of kids remembered the walkathon from the previous year.
As parents, you can register your child for the walkathon and help them raise money for CORD. Every single penny raised will be used effeciantly and effectively to help the needy in India.
REMINDERS:
Please register for the CORD walkathon
Please take the children to the restroom before the class.
Please do not send in any bags or folders with them.
If you have any spare art supplies please donate them to the class.

Comments:
We had a couple of more new friends joining us this time. After the beginning prayers, we did the Bhajans. Children seem to love both the action bhajans. Encourage them to sing it for you at home. We then repeated the first Shloka of the Bhagavad Gita. They seem to have got it now and with regular practice at home, we can go to the 2nd shloka next week. The shlokas are given in the parent handbook that you received at the beginning of the year.
Then we reviewed the letter from last week - A for aspiration for a few minutes before moving to the letter of the week B for brotherhood. We told them a couple of stories, one about fighting crayons, and another the popular folk tale, Stone Soup to illustrate how people should appreciate and care for each other. We then did an activity in which each child received an envelope - but when they opened it some of them had 2 tops, some 1 top and some of them had none. It was so heart warming to see that as soon as the children realized that some of them had an empty envelope, they immediately gave them one of their own even before we could say anything. We spoke to them about CORD and the good work they are doing to help needy people in India and told them that our class Aspiration is to collect $1000/- and that each of them should collect atleast $50/-. They have all promised to help. We hope they will convince you to register for the walkathon and raise and even exceed the goal set for us.
