Section 1
Today the children were so full of energy and ready to learn. It was a pleasure teaching them. After the initial prayers we all enjoyed the bhajan “Great God Ganapati”. We started off with few shlokas (will slowly add new shlokas one at a time). This year we are reviewing Great God Ganapathy from last year.
Thank you Prarthana aunty for volunteering today and helping to run the class smoothly. We had a great start with Gita chanting today. Children were very enthusiastic and we hope that they keep practicing it at home. In our Alphabet Safari section we learnt what the word “ASPIRATION” means. Some children wanted to be doctors, while others aspired to be teachers, vets, rock stars and sportsmen. Children very quietly listened to the story about Arjuna's aspiration to become the best archer in the world.
The balloon game taught us that the aspiration should not be too high and also not too low. Children had fun drawing about their aspiration in the new coloring books

Section 2
We started the class chanting OM followed by our opening prayers. We welcomed three new friends to our class Aryan, Vidyut and Roshan. Thanks for practising shlokas with the children they were wonderful as we chanted shlokas we learnt last year. We started new shlokas and bhajans confidently after finishing our old shlokas . We learnt Ekadantam Mahakayam and Ganesha Sharanam sharanam ganesha. We also started Gita chapter 13 today.
We then continued with how Arjuna was the best archer and how it was important to concentrate and single pointed attention is needed to attain your aspiration. We did two activities to demonstrate this one was playing with the baloon and showed it was fun only when we aspire to touch a balloon flying above our reach. We also asked the children to draw what they aspire to be. It was interesting to see them think of being princess to superman, to pilot and fire fighter to lawyer and engineer. It was amazing to see the details. We played the shell game to quiten our minds. We concluded today with the closing prayers and pledge.

We request all parents to contribute $5 for the activity book to the sevikas. The children have started using the books and they will be used through the year. We would also request parents to signup as parent volunteers in the classroom. We would encourage you to be involved in the class with your child.
